| SONICSERT II is ideal as a post molded Insert for tapered hole sizes as well as molded-in and for applications requiring high pull, jackout and torque retention. | ![]() |
The unique lower knurl design melts into the walls of the molded hole and directs the displaced material to fill the above knurls and undercuts. Increased torque strength and reduced residual stress is achieved. A "flash wall" with a cap head design will prevent any displaced material from overflowing at the top and ensure a flush installation. Quick positioning and accurate alignment is achieved since 1/3 of the insert is positioned in the molded hole prior to insertion.

HOLE SIZE: Recommended hole sizes for the SONICSERT II are listed in the chart below. Please note that hole sizes are not necessarily core pin sizes. The core pins should be designed to allow for shrinkage of the plastic. Tapered holes provide a molder with easy release of parts from the core pins. The depth of the hole should be equal to the insert length plus a .030" additional depth to contain any excess flow material. BOSS DIAMETER: The Boss outside diameter to be used with the SONICSERT II" should be a minimum of two to three times the diameter of the insert being used to obtain maximum assembly strength. A generous radius is recommended at the base of the boss to prevent any stress fractures which can occur on sharp corners during installation It can,be ordered with external threaded stud and/or flanged head.
